I’ve created this blog over 10 years ago with the intention of recording my travelling experiences. But, for one reason or another, it got forgotten. So, I’ve decided to make it a 2024’s resolution and start it with my first trip of the year, Riga, a place I knew nothing about until 2 weeks prior to flying there.

Ever since I was very young, I loved the adventure of travel, the opportunity to learn something new and see things from a different perspective. I lived in different countries and I even worked on several cruise ships just to have the opportunity to travel to places I wouldn’t even think of. Unfortunately, in those days we didn’t have the “materials and technologies” we have now, and my only regret was not to record all those trips.

Now, with my travel buddies (husband and teenage son) travelling is even more fun! We prefer to go to less touristic places, or at least go out of season. I like to do some research prior to visiting a country or place and then try to make it our unique experience, immersing ourselves in new cultures and new experiences, not just to tick boxes on a list of countries.
Travelling broadens your mind in so many different ways and you make memories that last a lifetime.

Hubbard Glacier, Alaska

Summers of 2005 and 2006 - Memories from when I worked on a cruise ship A spa with stunning views takes it to another level, and this was the view from my treatment room once a week for 2 summers. A very unique experience to witness the power and beauty of nature. Hubbard Glacier is a very popular tourist destination, with many cruise ships visiting during the summer months. In fact, you can only reach Hubbard Glacier by boat. Or you can take a scenic flight tour and admire the glacier from the sky. From its source on Mount Logan in the Yukon territory, Hubbard Glacier stretches 76 miles to the sea at Yakutat and Disenchantment Bays. It is the longest tidewater glacier in Alaska, with an open calving face over six miles wide. Calving is the process of ice breaking off from the face of the glacier as a natural part of its life cycle.
